Welcome to CrossTalk!

In a world flooded with noisy content—work emails, marketing campaigns, social media notifications—it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and disconnected.

CrossTalk is a regular invitation to break that endless chain.

Each week, this newsletter encourages you to pause, reflect, and rediscover the ways Christ is at work in your life, in Scripture, and in the world around you. It’s a space to cultivate a holy imagination and consider things from a different angle.

In this newsletter, I hope to nurture these values:

  • Biblical Curiosity: Exploring Scripture as a space to experience God, not just a source of answers.

  • Compassionate Orthodoxy: Joyfully holding to the historic faith as a bridge to unity and neighborly love.

  • Kingdom Focus: Encouraging outward action and spiritual formation rooted in Christ.

  • Healthy Rhythms: Living an ebb & flow spirituality where personal experiences of Jesus are sought but lead to action in the world.

This newsletter has been in motion for 3+ years so I’ve broken down some of my most popular pieces as an orientation to CrossTalk.

About the Author

CrossTalk is written by me, JD Tyler.

Since high school, I’ve been obsessed with learning about God. This passion led me to pursue a degree in Religion from Samford University and a Master of Divinity from Princeton. I craved knowledge—digging into theology, Scripture, and history to uncover everything I could about the maker of heaven and earth.

But somewhere along the way, I had a revelation.

All this knowledge wasn’t leading me into a deeper life of communion with God. I could tell you a lot about him…..but was I actively abiding in him? The answer was no. Or, to be charitably to myself, very little.

So, for the past three years, I’ve been on a journey to enhance my felt experience of God—not just learning about him but walking closely with him in daily life.

CrossTalk is where I share the reflections and lessons from this journey.

I believe we’re called not only to know God with our minds but to experience his rest, renewal, and presence in our hearts and lives. This newsletter is an invitation for you to join me in that pursuit.

Let’s journey together.
