I have to admit something.
I’m not very prepared for Crosstalk this week.
And by not very I mean not at all.
Each week you expect some thoughtful reflection on the Bible and our Christian faith. But after traveling out of the country for work and having our hands full of moving issues, I don’t have much to offer.
To be honest, I’ve hardly communed with God at all.
I feel it’s important to share this with you all because to be a Christian writer is to be someone whom others think have it all together and are always on a “spiritual high.”
But that’s not the case.
As much as I advocate for regular communion with God, it often feels like there’s a giant conspiracy to prevent this from happening.
And it’s in times like this it’s important for all of us to remember that Jesus is “the author and perfecter of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2).
Not us.
Jesus began this good work in us and he will bring it to completion (Philippians 1:6).
He’ll finish what he started.
Like the Prodigal Son’s Father, God is anxious to welcome us back into his presence—not bitter that we’ve been away for a bit.
This is what I’m resting in as I reset from time away with home.
Sisters and brothers, I urge you to rest in this too.
Honesty and Transparency is always so appreciated and powerful. Thank you.
